  • WELCOME!

Thanks for visiting the Walker Family blog! We started this blog to document the life of our growing family. When Davis joined us our entire world changed for the better. We want to make sure to document every wonderful moment as a family, every hilarious parenting fail, and all the exciting milestones of our sweet boy's life.

In an effort to not make the Leslie Walker Photography blog turn into a blog just about Davis, we thought it would be fun to have a separate space to dedicate to our family memories.

    Hope you enjoy!

9 Months Old

Ok…where did my baby go?:(I know he’s still a baby but this is crazy. How in the world do we have a 9 month old?! I can’t believe it’s time to start thinking about and planning a 1 year birthday party! But before we get to that– let’s give a 9 month update:

9 Months Pictures

(You can tell I was a first time mom when I started your monthly pictures for 2 reasons. 1. The blanket I was laying you on is tiny. I didn’t think about the fact that you would eventually be taller than the blanket. 2. I also didn’t think about the fact that you would eventually only stay still for .2 seconds. We’ve given up on laying you down on your back for these pictures. So here you are sitting up:))

Dear Davis,

You’re 9 months old baby boy! You’re so much fun right now and we just love this age. We are really loving your cute little personality. I think you’re going to be a funny kiddo. You’re very busy but also very chill. Sometimes you’ll just sit in our arms and suck your thumb for an abnormally long time for a baby;)We’re grateful you seem to have inherited your parents’ calm attitude. Some things about you this month:

  • You are all over the place. You’re currently crawling all over my office;)
  • You’re starting to pull up on things and you get this really proud look on your face. You stand up in your crib all the time.
  • The other day your dad and I were working in the office and you were crawling around playing. The next thing we knew you had pulled up holding onto our shelf and you were standing up so proud. You sat down before we could take a picture.
  • You’re changing so quickly right before our very eyes. Could you maybe slow down?
  • We just had your 9 month visit with the Pediatrician. You didn’t gain much weight at all…about a whopping 4 oz. since the last time we saw her but she didn’t seem concerened. You grew a lot in length though. I think you’re going to be tall and skinny just like your daddy.
  • We’re still breastfeeding- we passed mommy’s goal of 6 months so thats great! You’ll pretty much eat anything and you love trying what we’re eating. I think you’re starting to be more interested in finger foods. The other day you wanted nothing to do with pureed baby food. It’s so fun giving you new things to try.
  • You’re wearing 9 months but you’re kind of in between sizes. You’ll be in 12-18 month in no time.
  • We’re still cloth diapering while we’re at home and using ‘to-go’ diapers when we’re out and about. Thats what we call regular diapers:)You like to explode in those though.
  • You have two bottom teeth coming in! They are so cute:)And I think your top two will be here soon.
  • You LOVE your thumb. You suck your thumb all the time. We love it. I know one day we’ll have to fight you to stop but for now it’s adorable and you’re able to self soothe so we thank you for that.

We are so in love with you and can’t imagine life without you. You make our days so much fun.

Davis’ First Christmas

Whew. We’re finally starting to get caught up here:)

Dusty and I both love Christmas so much. We just love decorating for Christmas, the lights, the smells, the time with family & friends, the Christmas songs… all of it. And now that we have Davis it’s an even sweeter time. We can’t wait for him to get excited like we do! We were very busy during his first Christmas.

We got our Christmas tree pretty much right after Thanksgiving and it was so much fun! You went through a month phase where you would scrunch up you nose, smile real big and breath real heavy. It was totally hilarious. I’m so glad I caught it here:

We went to Opryland Hotel to see the lights. Here you are making that face again haha:

We went to Atlanta and spent time with my family- we had our party with my brothers and then Papa’s annual Christmas party too. Here are some pictures from our time in Atlanta:

I am so in love with these pictures of Davis with his Papa -

Grab Box time!

We drove back to Nashville on Christmas Eve and went straight to Chinese dinner with Dusty’s side of the family. Then we came home and had a relaxing night at home. While we were sleeping Santa came to see Davis and left him some really great presents!!! Thanks Santa. Our first Christmas morning was so much fun. We woke up around 8:30, had our coffee and went in to wake up Davis to show him what Santa brought. Dusty took a video of it but it’s pretty long. We’ll have to figure out how to shorten it some so we can post it. I took some pictures of our little man playing with all his toys. This is a day we’ll never forget:

Cuddle time in our Christmas pjs:)

Later in the afternoon we went to Lady & Pops’ house for Christmas with them and Ash & Cy. This is literally the only picture we got of the 3 of us at Christmas. I love it though:)

Julie Cloy - Davis is by far, the cutest little boy. Ever. Avery makes that same scrunched nose face :) I think they might be a match made in heaven :)

Catching Up… 8 Months Old

Let’s review all the fun things we did during your 8th month!

Your 8th month was full of tons of changes & incredible memories:

  • The biggest memory being your very first Christmas! We had SO much fun with you. (Next post you’ll see all about your 1st Christmas!)
  • We loved teaching you how to unwrap presents and you thought the paper ripping was hilarious
  • We took you to see Santa! You didn’t cry but the face you’re making in the picture is hilarious.
  • You ate SO good. We were nursing about 4 times a day and you ate food 3 times a day. We make a lot of your baby food. Some of your favorites are- bananas, apples, pears, broccoli, green beans, sweet potatoes, oatmeal. You’ll really eat pretty much anything!
  • We took you to Papa’s annual Christmas Party and you got to do the grab box for the first time! It made mommy cry. Your great grandfather has been doing the Grab Box since Mama was a little girl!
  • You started crawling like crazy and have started to pull up on things. You stand up in your bed and it’s so cute. I can’t believe you’re big enough to stand up in your bed.
  • The day after Christmas you got your first cold. It was awful:(You were so sick and then gave it to mom and dad. We all stayed home for New Years. We’re all still getting over it (it’s been over 2 weeks!).
Some of our favorite pictures from your 8th month:
You love reading books which makes this momma happy:)
You’re pretty sensitive sometimes and get your feelings hurt. I think you’re going to be a very passionate and determined little boy. Mommy laughs at you sometimes when you cry like this. Is it weird that I love your crying face?
You love the mirror in mom’s office. And I love the little handprints all over the bottom:)
This phase lasted about 2 weeks – we could sit you on a pallet and give you some toys to play with. Now you take off crawling immediately.
Such an angel. These moments when you fall asleep on me are moments I’ll cherish forever.
Your best friend Bean. You love each other. And I’m glad you don’t mind his kisses because he wants to lick your face all day.
Being silly with Daddy
Christmas shopping with mom and dad at Target. Towards the end of our shopping trip I realized that smile on your face meant you were making something special and extra explosive for us in your diaper. Oh to be a parent.
Morning snuggles in bed. My favorite time of day.
Your first Christmas! This was before the Walker Family Christmas. You’re so cute in your plaid shirt and cords:)
More shopping with mom. I’m so glad you’re such a chill baby.
Bless it. I just love this picture of you and your daddy in front of our fireplace.
New choo choo train from Aunt Zuzana & Uncle Clint. You love this thing!
We love you so much sweet boy!
Love,
Mommy

Catching up…. 7 Months Old

Wow. OK….so I knew it would be hard to keep up with this blog but good gracious…. I’m SO behind. You’re 9 months old today baby boy! I need to post your 7 & 8 month updates though. Sorry for the delay but we’ve been very busy and having so much fun with you the past few months!

Dear Davis,

Let’s give a little update on what you were up to during month 7!

Davis 7 Month picture

You turned 7 months old when we were in Key West for our friends wedding. Let’s see here…so many firsts–

  • Traveled to visit The Cowans in Winchester and played with your friend Collier! We had so much fun with them! We took tons of pictures– family pictures for the Cowans, pictures of you in a cotton field, and some of you and Collier in the bath tub!
  • First flight Thursday November 8th. You did great! We left very early in the morning and you ate and slept peacefully on the plane. Thank you! We were a traveling circus getting to Key West with all of our things… I packed SO much for you but we wanted to be prepared.
  • First beach trip! You had so much fun and we had such a great time showing you new things. You didn’t really care for the sand (probably like your mama unfortunately) but you LOVED the pool. We put you under water and you actually loved it. You just looked at us like ‘am I OK?’ and then smiled:)Everyone at the pool was cheering for you. You splashed and kicked your legs like crazy.
  • You rode in the grocery cart and your stroller like a big boy for the first time.
  • Days before we were supposed to leave for the beach your brother Bean hurt his back and had to have surgery:(That’s one of the main reasons this blog is so behind. Poor little guy. We left him at the hospital while we were at the beach and then when we got home we had to take care of him and you. Mommy was quite exhausted. And we were really sad because we didn’t know if he would walk again but he’s doing much better though now!
  • You had your first flu shot:(Poor buddy.
  • You ate so good– we were really starting to experiment with more food. We put frozen mangos in your mesh thing and you fed yourself those on the beach. You loved it!
  • You were sitting up pretty good but no signs of crawling until the very end of November!
  • Your first Thanksgiving! We went to Tansy’s house and we fed you some babyfood with turkey and sweet potatoes so you could enjoy what we were having!:)So fun! Then we had our own Thanksgiving at home the next day.
  • We traveled just the two of us to Atlanta so mommy could shoot a wedding. We stayed at mama’s house and you started crawling while we were there!

6 Months Old

Dear Davis,

Ok. This is the first monthly post that actually makes me cry. You’re 6 Months old baby boy! Half a year! I am trying to soak up every ounce and minute of you as a baby. Yesterday I held you through one of your naps and let you sleep on me for an hour. I just love snuggling with you. You are growing so much and are looking so much like a little boy! I just can’t believe it. Some things about you…

  • You have quite the personality. You think you’re hilarious and so do we. I was rocking you earlier because you’re having a rough day- I think your teeth are really hurting you:(And you had been crying for about 30 minutes and you just stopped, looked up at me and started laughing. Silly boy.
  • You’re sitting up pretty good! I haven’t really let you try on the floor yet but you sit up in our bed and you’re so strong and quite proud of yourself!
  • You suck on your bottom lip all the time and you’re getting a rash on your chin. Such a boy.
  • You laugh all the time. You’re extremely ticklish and you think so many things are funny…especially Bean. I just love to watch your face light up when you see him. You seriously belly laugh if he comes close to you. You guys are going to be best friends.
  • We got you a jumpy exercauser and you LOVE it. The first time we put you in it you just jumped and jumped and laughed. You only used your right foot to jump though haha. You were exhausted afterwards. That’s hard exercise.
  • You get so excited when we wake you up. You started kicking your legs and pumping your arms and you smile so big. I love coming in your room to get you in the mornings.
  • You grab my face and hair all the time and give me ‘kisses’…more like slobbering and sucking on my face but I love it.
  • You’re wearing 6-9 month clothes. We had to go out and get you clothes a couple of weeks ago because you didn’t really have anything! We got you the cutest jacket from Old Navy and some shirts just like Daddy wears.
  • You go to the doctor on Friday for your 6 month checkup. They’re going to give you shots:(Pretty sure I’ll cry with you but I can’t wait to see how much you weigh and how much you’ve grown.
  • You’re still sleeping so good. Thank you! We put you down around 8:30 most nights and you wake up around 8 each morning.
  • You love all the new foods we’re letting you try! Except peas. Just like your daddy. You love apples, pears and avocado. You’ve also had sweet potatoes, brocolli and oatmeal.  I love watching you try new things!
